How a print gets made
From the first pencil line to the box on your doorstep, including the one step where software helps.
i. Our illustrator draws the scene
Each scene starts as a pencil sketch, then a single ink line. The pastel and watercolor layers are painted separately, the way a colourist works over an inked page. That line and that colour are the part of every print that's ours.
ii. An image model redraws your photo
When you send a photo, an image model redraws your house, pet or people in our illustrator's style and places it in the scene. It makes three versions, so you're choosing rather than settling. We say this plainly because you should know what you're buying.
iii. A person checks it
Before anything goes to press, someone on our team puts your proof beside your photo and your note. If a window is missing or the porch is wrong, we fix it by hand or redraw it.
- Doors, windows and roofline match the photo
- Your note applied, e.g. “the door is red now”
- Names spelled exactly as typed
- No stray marks or melted details
iv. Printed and framed in the US
Our print partner makes and frames each order individually and ships it in a box built for frames. If it arrives damaged, send a photo and we reprint it.
